((Bi Dean/Pan Nonbinary Sam/Ace Demiromantic Cas- because I don’t think I actually explicitly stated all of it))

“Has it ever occurred to you what a queer group of people we are?” Cas asked, getting the attention of both Sam and Dean. Dean turned down the TV and shifted to make room for Cas next to him on the couch, sensing something a little off in his tone of voice.

“Besides killing monsters and having pretty much the most screwed up lives ever?” Dean asked, not quite sure what Cas was trying to say.

“Besides that, yes.” Cas said, and it was Sam that caught on to what he was trying to say first, half-smiling at Cas’ unusual but not unexpected choice of phrasing.

“Definitely queer.” They said with a smirk. Dean finally caught on to the meaning of Cas’ words.

“Can’t even make it simple and just say I’m gay for both of you, ‘cus Sam’s not a guy. And I’m not totally gay.”

“Bi, Dean. Bi is a thing.” Sam said with an eye-roll. “So is pan.”

“Lots of things are things. Bi is easier, doesn’t make it sound like I’m into dishes.” Dean said, words vague but meaning coming across clearly. He had never put much thought into labels until Sam did, and was still occasionally surprised for how many labels there were for identities and preferences.

“What, so I am, then?’ Sam inquired.

“I believe he was joking.” Cas added, to which both Winchesters rolled their eyes.

“Yeah, I know.” Sam said. “But I get what you were trying to say with this whole thing, Cas. We’re all queer as hell.”

“And it’s still nowhere near the weirdest part of our lives.” Dean pointed out. “Not that I mind weird, in this case.”

“’I’d hope that you don’t mind, I think that you’re stuck with us at this point.” Cas said with a small smile, leaning in to press a light kiss to Dean’s cheek.

“Right. Well, I don’t mind being stuck with you, either, you know.” Dean pressed a kiss to Cas’ cheek as well. If today was a day he wanted a kiss on the lips, or anything more affectionate than that, he would let them know.

Sam, not wanting to be left out, leaned closer to Dean and pressed their lips to Dean’s neck, leaving light kisses there. It wouldn’t turn to anything sexual, not with Cas sitting there, but little displays of romantic affection between the siblings didn’t bother him.

“Also.” Cas mused aloud, “There is the fact that this relationship is not monogamous.”

“Too many labels.” Dean said, his tone teasingly frustrated. “Can’t you just settle for being in love, no matter how weird the details are?” It wasn’t that simple, and it wasn’t that Dean was totally blowing Cas off, either- there had been many a long conversation between the three of them about labels, and limits and preferences and everything.

It wasn’t that their complicated identities didn’t matter; it was that they were all unusual and queer and missing pieces and not quite normal, but the three fit together in spite of it. And maybe nothing about them was simple, but the fact that they were in love was so obvious and evident that had it been simple, it may have seemed boring.
